THERAPY DOG TRAINING
Six 1 hour private weekly sessions.
Pre-requisite: You must complete the Canine Good Neighbour course to enroll.
This class will prepare you and your dog to become a therapy dog volunteer. Therapy dogs are an incredible asset to hospitals, retirement living facilities, children with special needs, and many other community programs. If you and your furry pal would like to light up the faces of our community members this is the class for you and your dog.
What you will learn:

Be accepting of a friendly stranger

Sit calmly for petting

Walk on a loose leash

Walk through a crowd (including patients in wheelchairs)

Sit on command/staying in place

React well to another dog or to distractions (noise, hospital equip).

React well in a hospital or retirement home setting

Interaction with patients, residents & staff
